End of first week of coach tour...

As before, we are getting our monies worth!

Today:
The Burren: the almost total rock area you see in the distance.  Oliver Cromwell said of it that there wasn't enough timber to hang a man.  There wasn't enough water to drown  man. And there wasn't enough dirt to bury a man.

The Cong Abbey ruins: these I rambled through on my own during a pit and shopping stop.  I wanted to explore rather than shop (although I've certainly been doing enough of that).

The Cliffs of Moher: for the most spectacular side the sun was against us.  I got a better shot on my camera than this tablet.

My hair after a visit to the Cliffs of Moher.

Side story:  Our guide Joe said that a lot of people die each year at the Cliffs.  They go beyond the barriers thinking there was plenty of room to the edge not understanding how very fierce the wind is... a gust comes and topples them off.  All so sad for the sake of a good photo.

Had supper at an Irish pub, 'Durty Nelly's'.  The story is that there was once a woman called Nelly that always had a dirty, sotty face do was knicknamed 'Dirty Nelly'.

A newspaper wrote up her story and used this name.

She was outraged and sued the paper.

The newspaper man opened a pub but didn't want yo be sued again so he named it Durty Nelly's.  :-)

Also saw a leprechaun and found a fortune in a pot of gold under the rainbow.
