Pompeii

Pompeii today

Tomorrow last day in Amalfi coast with a visit to the Isle of Capri, then Thursday return to Rome with one attraction on the way.  Friday return to home.

Positano

Positano followed by dinner in a restaurant with a view of the Isle of Capri.

Exploring Sorrento

Soon to leave for Positano.  Spent morning exploring Sorrento.  Went to the port and then an adjoining fisherman's village.

Herculaneum and the Naples Archaeological Museum

Herculaneum was buried in ash and mud by the eruption of MT. Vesuvius in 79 AD.  Do you see it in the distance?

Smaller site than Pompeii but exquisite.  Can compare later since we will be visiting it as well.

Hard to believe that I was viewing the infamous Mt. Vesuvius.  Surreal moment.

Orvieto, enroute to Sorrento

Long day...

Delayed on highway due to crash with cattle truck... no, not with us but traffic jam meant detour.

Had a stop in magical Orvieto, mountain top village in Tuscany before Almafi coast.
